I LOVE October!

October is one of my favorite months for SOOOOO many reasons!

  1. The changing of seasons makes me happy - jeans, a sweatshirt, brisk air, warm sun, and all the fall colors.

  2. There are many birthdays to celebrate this month - my mom, my brother, my son, several treasured friends, and me :)

  3. October is ADHD Awareness Month.

  4. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month.

I can't think of a better picture to illustrate why I LOVE October so much. This family picture was taken in October for my birthday. These loves are my heart and my why. It just so happens that we all have ADHD and three of us are dyslexic too.

A few years ago, ADHD and dyslexia were contributing to significant struggles for two of my children. I shifted gears and retired from 20 years of teaching to learn and provide the academic and behavior interventions that were not yet readily available in school, but necessary.

They are now thriving - creating more time for me to focus on how I can serve others. In the last couple years, I have transitioned through a couple logos, email addresses, business cards and websites - each time gaining more clarity about who I am, who I can serve, and how I can serve.

At the center of it all is learning about the brain. Advances in neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychology have transformed understanding of behavior, learning, and brain differences like ADHD and dyslexia. Despite good intentions, efforts to support others that are not guided by brain science are often unsuccessful and can even be harmful.

My mission is to increase awareness of brain science while cultivating curiosity, compassion, empathy, and informed action to empower others - including individuals with ADHD and dyslexia.

October is the perfect time to launch my new branding, website, and services.
